I was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer at the beginning of April 2017. I have gone through 16 rounds of neoadjuvant chemotherapy over five months to try and reduce the size of my large tumor (4 cm) and help to detach it from my chest wall. Cancer was also found in my lymph nodes.  After chemotherapy I underwent my first surgery on November 15th which was a partial mastectomy and sentinel lymph node removal. Cancer was found at the margins of the tissue removed from my breast and in my sentinel lymph node. A second surgery on December 7th is needed to remove the cancer remaining in my breast. A third surgery and full mastectomy are still possibilities. I am having debilitating pain and loss of function in my left arm due to the sentinel lymph node removal and I am so thankful to God that no more lymph nodes need to be removed.  It has been a long, challenging journey and I still have a long road ahead of me. If I do not need any more surgeries, radiation treatment will begin most likely mid-January 2018, five days a week for four to six weeks. I will also need to be on hormonal therapy for ten years to try and prevent the cancer from coming back. This treatment will also start mid-January. I am told that radiation treatment is exhausting and produces third-degree burns to the skin and that there are multiple, life-altering side-effects to the hormonal medication that I need to take. I am very scared about all of that. I would so appreciate prayers you would have for me 🙏
