As many of you have heard, Jackie was diagnosed with breast cancer on Monday, January 8, 2018. We are still learning more about the diagnosis. This is what we know so far: The type of cancer is Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with a nuclear grade of 3/3 (which means it is a very aggressive cancer). The surgeon staged it at a 3, the oncologist is thinking more of a 2. So that is yet to be determined. The good news is, it is 95% receptive to estrogen therapy. She will need surgery and chemo, and eventually radiation.
She has a pet scan scheduled Monday to see if it is anywhere else in her body. On Wednesday, she will have a bone scan and see her oncologist again. They will then determine whether she will have chemo first or surgery first. We will update this page when we have more information. Caring bridge will be helpful for everyone to get updates on Jackie and helpful for her so she doesn't have to explain the same thing 20 times :) Please feel free to leave a note of encouragement for her. I ask that you please pray for her healing and tell all your prayer warriors to do the same. "This hope we have as an anchor for the soul, is both strong and steadfast." Hebrews 6:19
