Jackie Habeeb

The Habeeb family has asked me to give medical information concerning Jackie’s condition on this health journal.  I am her aunt Barbara, and a medical physician.

Jackie moved to Charleston in May to take a job at the Medical University of South Carolina nuclear medicine department as a Nuclear Medicine and CT tech.

On Tuesday, 7/10/18, Jackie had a hypoglycemic event, which is a low blood sugar, caused by complications of  Type 1,insulin dependent diabetes, which she has had since age 9.  She was found unconscious by a friend and  taken to the Emergency Department at St Francis, a hospital close to her apartment.  She was admitted to the intensive care unit.  She spent a week there and then on 7/16, was flown to Mass General Hospital here in Boston and admitted to their Intensive Care Unit.
Jackie’s medical team is treating her by keeping her sedated and hoping to give her enough time to heal.

We feel she is in the best place possible for her medical care and is being taken care of by the best doctors in the world.
The type of injury that Jackie suffered is so rare that the doctors are unable to give a definitive prognosis at this time.
We all believe strongly in the power of prayer and ask for your continued prayers for Jackie.

I will update this page regularly and immediately if there is any change in Jackie’s condition.
