Jackie had been feeling a bit run down but was at the gym working out with Doug when she received a call and was told that her bloodwork indicated there were some health issues that needed to be explored right away. She was admitted to the hospital and had a bone marrow biopsy the next day. The biopsy results confirmed that Jackie has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The next day, Thursday, August 23, 2018, she began a chemotherapy regimen. At this time chemotherapy is ongoing, and Jackie is doing the hard work that goes with chemotherapy treatment. Testing continues, and we are waiting for more precise results. We anticipate that Jackie will be in the hospital through September.
At the hospital with Jackie is Doug, her husband and best friend.
Also, there is Ryan, Jackie’s only son. They share a unique and extraordinary bond. He has temporarily relocated from Dallas to Minnesota and spends most of his time with his mom.
Other visitors include Jackie’s siblings Karol, Kim, Allen, and Cathy.
Jackie rescues stray cats; feeding them, providing shelter and locating new homes for them. Doug is making sure they are cared for. Their cat Squeakers got his name because every time Jackie and Doug sneeze he squeaks.

Due to the nature of Jackie’s illness, she cannot receive fresh or dried flowers or fresh fruit.
