Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I survived Bladder cancer in 2009.  I began to see a nephrologist due to decreased kidney function after my surgery. In late January 2017, I contracted a gastrointestinal bug that dehydrated me. I was hospitalized for a week with kidney issues. My function had decreased to 5 %. With treatment and lots of fluid, my kidney function improved while in the hospital and after discharge, but I never recovered to my baseline functioning prior to surgery. In May 2017, my nephrologist told me it was time to explore treatment options. I went to a class and decided that live donor transplant was the best option for me. Since my bladder cancer was treated at Mayo Clinic, I returned to Mayo for kidney transplant evaluation. I was approved at the end of July. My husband offered to be my donor. When he was evaluated at Mayo in October, he was not a match, so we entered the paired exchange program. After a few false starts, I now have a donor match. I will undergo live donor transplant surgery on 3/16. My husband will donate his kidney in another chain on 4/3. Please pray for us, my donor, our chains, our caregivers and our doctors.
