Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated.
Bella was officially diagnosed in the first week of February/2016 with a rare bone cancer/tumor called Ewing's Sarcoma. Fortunately we were able to catch this early and after numerous test and surgeries we now know the cancer is localized to her collar bone. Bella will be going through treatment for approximately one year beginning on Monday, 2/22/16. The treatment begins with 6 cycles of chemo every other week, then surgery to remove the affected area (collar bone) and finally another 8 cycles of chemo every other week. The prognosis is very positive and we are projecting a complete and full recovery one year from now.
Most importantly Bella has been extremely positive from the day she learned about her cancer. After a long day at the pediatric cancer center when she first learned about her tumor and what was going to be involved over the next year the lead pediatric oncologist asked her how she felt. Bella's response with a big smile, "I'm just excited about getting this thing going." We understand there might be some difficult days ahead but Team Bella only knows one direction and that's carrying a positive perception of the days, months and year ahead of us and projecting a positive healthy outcome!
We appreciate your support, words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.
