The Story So Far...
Kristin and I have wanted a child for sooooo long. It's been a long journey from childless to proud parents. It started with In Vitro Fertilization. That was almost exactly 1 year ago. With in vitro fertilization, often you get 12 eggs at a time and many parents have to try this up to three times. We got ONE egg. One Lucky egg to implant back in September. We hoped and prayed so much and for awhile we were happy.
In February, a routine ultrasound revealed that our child might have an anomaly such as a heart condition. He has a double outlet right ventrical. That means that he was born with a heart in which the blood does not flow to all the right places. We have known since February that this surgery would take place soon after his birth. Today, Thursday, 6-16-16 is that day.
Isaac was born on 61116 weighing 611. There's something there in the numbers. We don't know quite yet what that means yet. All we know is that this is one special kid. Isaac the impossible? the improbable? the invincible? All I know is that this kid is a fighter. Peace, Peter
One month later:
His surgery on his 5th day of life was a success! We've been living at the Children's Hospital in Minneapolis ever since. Today he has a catheter placed inside his leg to explore the heart region and get more updated info on heart function, repair, and possible fluids in the lungs.
