Welcome to my story. The journey began some time ago but March 27th is the first day of eradication. I will share my story here and provide updates. Please come back to join me on my journey.... Make it OUR journey....
I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis on September 5, 2013 but my journey started long before that date. I experienced symptoms as early as 2001 but never thought anything more than 'I'm just getting old.' It was when I could no longer run the bases while playing my favorite sport, softball, when I finally went to the doctor. The news was terrifying but I have great family and friends; the support kept me on the right track. I said it that day and I finally get to prove it soon...I WILL BEAT THIS!!!
I have been on a couple medications since being diagnosed, which have not worked well enough to mitigate the disease’s effects. A couple weeks ago we learned that I was approved to start a new treatment called Lemtrada. Lemtrada is a ‘selective chemotherapy’ that will, in essence, zap the entire immune system so it can grow back without the MS cells. This is a fairly new procedure in the US so Ihad to jump through many hoops to get approved. I'm in good spirits and ready to beat this disease!
I have chosen this treatment because I feel I can overcome this disease, then tell the world how to do it! Please come along with me and join the fight. I do have a GoFundMe page. Click on 'Ways to Help' and click on the link to donate!
