On March 4, 2020, our little Hudson "Huddy" was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It has been a complete shock to us all and the most frightening past couple days. Huddy had been his usual little wild self but with a cough since last week that wasn’t improving despite treatment for bronchitis. Over a couple days, he was progressively more fatigued and not eating well but nothing drastically out of the ordinary. On Tuesday, Sarah noticed his abdomen was distended and a lump had popped up in front of his left ear. Jeff and Sarah brought him to their Pediatrician early Wednesday morning and they were immediately sent to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite for further imaging and work-up. After many lab tests and CT scans, he was found to have a large mediastinal (chest) mass with lymph node involvement and masses on his kidneys as well. The Oncologist met Jeff and Sarah down in the emergency room. At the time, the diagnosis wasn’t definitive but we knew it was some form of lymphoma and/or leukemia. He was admitted to the Aflac Cancer Center at CHOA Scottish Rite. After further pathology/cytology results, they confirmed his diagnosis of T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and he started treatment on Thursday, March 5. Our family has been overwhelmed with love and support from friends and family near and far. Please keep them coming! We’ve started this site to best communicate updates on our little buddy.
