Howie Stevenson

Welcome to our CaringBridge site, and thanks to all of you who know and love our dad, Howie Stevenson.  Because he has impacted the lives of so many, we've been getting countless emails and phone calls asking for updates.  We've tried to respond, but it's taken a toll on the time we can spend with Dad.  Enter CaringBridge.  In the days and weeks to come, we'll use this central location to make it easier for you to keep updated on Dad's health.  


As many of you know, Dad has had some health challenges since early May, when he was hospitalized twice.  Upon discharge from the hospital, and after much thoughtful and prayerful consideration on his part, he opted to give up his Residential Living apartment at Mt. Miguel and begin "custodial care" in the Health Care Center.  He's received fabulous care, and the nursing staff have really enjoyed caring for him.  The lack of independence took some getting used to, but he rallied and even began riding his scooter around again.  


November was a tough month, with 2 more infections, IV antibiotics and isolation for 2 weeks.  These last infections have really taken a toll on Dad.  He's lost a considerable amount of weight, and is eating very little, if any.  In consultation with Bruce and Suzie, as well as the care staff here, we've made the decision to bring in hospice.


We know Dad is ready to go HOME, to be reunited with Mom, and to be whole.  We pray that for him as well, though our hearts are deeply saddened at the thought of not hearing his music again, or seeing him lead us into worship as only he could do.  Such a contrast of emotions!  


We can't possibly know all the people whose lives have been impacted by Dad's life, so please feel free to share this site with other who may want to follow his journey toward heaven.  And THANK YOU, all of you, for your love for Dad.
