Hello, friends and family!

Thank you for checking on us as Nick starts his treatment for cancer.  As you know, Nick is very capable of telling his own story in his own words, so this site will be in my voice.  It is  more about treatment updates and family support, should I need to reach out for some help. Things are moving quickly.  Chemotherapy starts next week and the diagnosis is still evolving.  I will try to post about once a week .  Here's what we have in hand today:

On August 13th, Nick was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the abdomen.  The appendix is the probable culprit.  The oncologist feels that Nick's condition is serious but with treatment, he will be able to continue to serve at City Hall.  Nick will be taking a six-month course of outpatient chemotherapy, taking one medicine by mouth and one medicine through infusion.   Treatment starts in about a week.

The kids and I are very shaken but trying to keep things as normal as possible for everyone.  We are experiencing our own form of cosmic convergence right now, eerily.

Love,
Patricia
