Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. As most of you know, Hobie had a myasthenic crisis a few weeks ago.  He got very dehydrated since he was unable to swallow due to the muscle weakness from the myasthenia gravis. It took some time to diagnose him, after ruling out strokes and vocal chord problems, but he overcame that challenge.   He developed some bleeding ulcers that were then cauterized and after a transfusion, he slowly got better.  He was pretty sick for awhile, but seemed to respond when some of his divers started coaching him to start eating and drinking.  Many of you were able to  come and see Hobie out during these episodes and it took a team effort to really help him, a lesson he taught us all.  He has been transferred to the IU faculty skilled nursing home:  Meadowood. If you thought about visiting Hobie, this would be a great time.  It really helps to have someone there for him, to motivate him, to help him eat and get back up on his feet again.  Please post if you can go see Hobie, see when some of your diving buddies will be there, that makes it really nice.  I think Kim, Dooner, Wylie and I all agree that our 3 days there were the best time we have had in Bloomington.  Fulfilling and the Billingsley family could use help from his IU family.  Curt Simic and Jim Everroad have been amazing and have shown Hobie incredible loyalty and friendship.  Please use this site to plan your trip to Bloomington.  If you can't make it, its pretty easy to talk to Hobie if you call one of your team mates who is with Hobie at the time.  When Robbie called, and I put the phone right to Hobie's right ear and you should have seen his face light up, when he realized who it was.   FaceTime is also great.

There is a calendar set up on this site for us to let others know when we are visiting Hobie.  Click on "Ways To Help" above, then on "Planner".  You will see the calendar and can click on a day to enter your name.
