Welcome to Umesh/Chip/Hessel’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
Hessel, aka Chip, aka Umesh, discovered in July that he had a cancer diagnosis that was beyond treatment. He is staying at a wonderful hospice place in downtown Atlanta called Our Lady of Perpetual Help home. It is lovely, and so far he has been able to enjoy moderately short visits.

It is literally in the shadow of Turner Field, the former home of the Atlanta Braves. I find this kind of interesting because Hessel used to be a baseball player in high school and college. It also has the oldest tree in Atlanta in its back garden! Make sure you go see it if you visit.
As you know, there is a large number of people who have a large amount of love for him! So it was getting a bit unwieldy keeping people posted. Thank goodness for Caring Bridge!

I’m going to paste in here two emails I sent to some of the Atlanta Siddha Yoga community in the past several weeks, so we’ll be all caught up.
Steve is helping Umesh with his day-to-day needs, and sees Umesh about every other day. Many other dear friends are also helping and sharing love with him.
We hope to keep you posted here. Anyone else is welcome to keep everyone posted about visits with Hessel and other matters too.
