Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Herb died this morning June 21, 2020 in the hospital in Effingham Il. He was born Jan 2, 1935. He is survived by his sister Joann Miller, daughter Nancy Frey (Gerard ) of Trenton , Son Karl Wodtke (Misty)of Loogootee, Dana Wodtke of Boulder Colorado and three grandchildren, Haley Frey of San Marcos, Texas and Levi and Grace Frey of Trenton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Edward Wodtke, and his wife Susan (February 2016). He attended college and eventually earned a degree from Eastern Illinois University. He worker in St. Louis for several years at both Boeing and Emerson Electric and then move back to Fayette county where he farmed for many years. He enjoyed farming, going to auctions “collecting”, camping and visiting with friends and relatives. He was a member of Macedonia Christian church in rural Fayette county.
