In 2014, at the age of 81 Mom was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. She came through surgery wonderfully and was up and moving around shortly thereafter. The 2nd surgery was in 2015, and Mom hasn't been the same since. She does much better when she has company. If you were to talk to her on the phone you would think everything is just fine, but she has been through H-E-double toothpicks! Mom was also diagnosed with Dementia - Alzheimer's in summer of 2015. This crippling disease affects people differently. Some people think it just affects the mind, but it can affect your ability to walk, and even swallow. It is a fatal disease and is something horrible to behold. This has all of course taken a toll on Dad as well. But neither complain, and both always say that they don't need any help. I've created this site to journal Mom and Dads ongoing needs and care.
