Love Interrupted...Every pot has a lid, that's what my husband says. Our oldest is a unique "pot" and I knew one day his "lid" would be someone very special.
And indeed she is.
Becca is Michael's lid, she is an amazing young lady. Down to earth, sweet, and kind to a degree far beyond what you see in most people these days. She is a self-less person and a passionate animal lover. She is a caring soul and a natural born fighter.
This is young woman has endured a lot of heartache in her young life; loss of loved ones including her father a few years ago has left a hole in her heart.
Ironically just when my son steps into the picture and begins to fill that hole, he has competition, but not in the form at another man. No, a 12 cm mass is attempting to penetrate that beautiful heart wall, literally. And it's cancer. Primary Mediastinal Lymphoma to be exact.
This somewhat rare and aggressive cancer is what Becca is fighting. And it's going to be a hell of a fight! Becca will be undergoing 4 continuous days of Chemo every 21 days. She just recently completed her first round. It is not known just yet if she will need radiation.
In addition to her natural instinct to fight, she has one more thing going for her. She has Michael. She has someone who has walked a similar path and had to fight a similar fight. For years Michael fought a condition which threatened his life and he fought to overcome it. He understands how important it is to not give up, and I believe that God brought these two together especially for this reason; they will fight this fight together.
One more thing he understands about this; it won't be inexpensive. The cost of the medical expenses that come with extended care from conditions like cancer can be a huge financial burden for years.
To to help with the cost of the aggressive medical care that Becca will be undergoing, specifically 5 full days of inpatient care with 4 days of chemo therapy, we have set up a donation account at UMB Bank and are taking donations including through YOUCARING.com.
A couple of different fundraisers are also being planned but we do need help. We need help with donations, help with getting the word out, and of course, help with prayers.
