Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In October 2017 I found out that I had pancreatic cancer. Fortunately I found it early and it had not spread. I am very determined not to let this get me down and Boaz and the girls (Michael too) have been incredibly strong and supportive and given me the encouragement and support to deal with what ever has come our way.

I am fortunate to have the most unbelievable team at Wake Forest Hospital - my doctors, nurses and everyone else I have come in to contact with there are truly amazing - I have had the most incredible care and support from my many angels!

Unfortunately the tumor was on a vein and artery which made it impossible to operate, so I started with 4 sessions of chemo and then had 28 days of radiation and chemo together to try and shrink it. Fortunately, I managed to get through all the treatments relatively well with a lot of help and support from my family and friends!

Boaz would not allow me NOT to eat and has made sure that I am well fed - some days it really came down to the fact that it was easier to eat than to argue. Thanks to him and his perseverance, I have maintained my weight. He also has been helping out with the business and anything else I have needed - going with me to many doctors appointments, tests, and more.

When we found out about this, Yahav decided to put all her plans on hold and stayed at home to help with whatever we need and it has made such a huge difference having her here - keeping me company, doing whatever I needed and helping with the business and dogs.

Eden, Netta and Michael have been home to visit and help whenever they could and of course each visit is always too short and really special. I also talk to both Netta and Eden many times a day - getting constant support and helping us to talk through things and just generally encouraging me and helping me to feel so much better about all of what is happening.

Our dogs, Haley and Olive, are always here for me with lots of love and snuggles - they always know how to make me feel better!!

All of you - my family and friends have been so supportive in so many ways - taking me to treatments, bringing meals, sending cards and messages, calling from all over the world and just being there in so many ways.  Thank you to all of you - you have all helped in so many ways for me to get to this point in my journey. I could not have done it as well and with such strength without all of you.

We still have a way to go and with your continued emotional support, I am sure that I will continue to fight and beat this!! I will not let it beat me.

We are very excited to finally be in a situation where I am able to have surgery and to continue to move in the direction of beating this horrible disease. I am having my surgery on Friday, June 2 and either Boaz or the girls will update this website so that you can all know what is happening.

In the mean time, I am really just enjoying living a "normal" life - working hard, walking at least 1 - 2 miles everyday with Boaz and/or Yahav and the dogs, building up my strength and stamina to deal the best way possible with what is to come!

I look forward to the day when this is behind us!

Thank you again for all your support - I truly appreciate each and every one of you.

Helene
