I wanted to share my update for everyone that has been following my sister Angie’s posts here on Facebook.  I apologize that I’ve been so unresponsive.  This has been an incredibly emotional and stressful week and with uncertainties as doctors have worked diligently to figure out my situation it’s been impossible to find words.   Now that we have answers I want to update my friends and family of the results so that you can be a part of my journey... 


On June 2nd I experienced what I thought was food poisoning.  What was actually happening was the beginning of a blocked small intestine caused by a cancerous tumor on my pancreas pressing against my small intestine.  Through the course of the past week I’ve worked with a team of specialists at Regions Hospital to make this diagnosis through numerous tests and procedures.  Today my incredible gastroenterologist successfully placed a stent in my small intestine to provide the ability to eat again, allowing chemotherapy to begin.  My first dose will be given here at Regions tomorrow as an inpatient and will more than likely continue at Westfields Cancer unit after that.
