Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting

As you may know, Heather has had a long battle fighting breast cancer. Although Heather has had many hospital and ER visits, in April of this year, it was different. She was not able to breathe, was transported from home by ambulance. Upon arrival at UW Madison, Heather was placed on a ventilator and in the ICU for several days. The cause? Heart Failure. This seems impossible as Heather is so strong. How can this be happening? The answer- the Red Devil, a chemo treatment given during her initial cancer treatment that is known to cause heart failure.

After a couple months of follow up visits and worsening health, Heather returned to the ICU on Father's Day. She has amazed the doctors, repeatedly fighting her way back. Unfortunately, she has double sided heart failure and is functioning at 10% and cannot fight this without additional intervention.

As of this post, Heather has been listed for heart transplant with a Level 1 status(most critical). She is currently on an ECMO machine until a heart becomes available.

Heather's family will use this site to provide updates. Although they would love to respond and update everyone personally, they have to focus on Heather and her care. Heather's condition and Covid restrictions limit visitors, but you can leave a message for Heather on this site to be shared with her.
