As many of you know, our precious Heather Curry McCallie was recently diagnosed with stage four soft tissue sarcoma cancer. What started as a small lump in her left leg has grown and metastasized to her lungs in the past four weeks which makes this a stage four diagnoses. This has moved very quickly and it was just a little over 7 weeks ago that she and her general doctor thought the lump may be caused by a pulled muscle. Thankfully, in mid February after another trip to her local doctor she was sent for a CAT scan on her leg. The results were concerning and she was referred immediately to MD Anderson in Houston. She and Jason have made multiple trips back-and-forth over the last six weeks. The latest is that she is receiving care at Texas Oncology with oncologist Dr. Chakmakjian. Texas Oncology will be coordinating care with MD Anderson moving forward. She had her port installed on April 4th and will begin chemotherapy this Friday morning, April 15th. The doctors are continuing to work diligently on managing her pain and symptoms. She continuously feels the love and support from her friends and family. Heather is sending her love and appreciation to all of you who have sent her family well wishes and prayed for them on this journey. This journey is just starting and we know that your prayers, love and support will be steadfast. Jason, Heather, Parker, Ella and Finley are immeasurably grateful for the circle of love that is and will surround them during these uncharted waters. Jason has been the rock and is loving Heather well each and every moment of these days. In addition, their extended families have also supported and loved them every step of the way. This is new, hard, and unfamiliar territory for us all. Our goal is to love on the McCallie family and bless them in whatever way these days present themselves. Heather and her family are hoping that this Caring Bridge site will allow for efficient communication regarding her treatment plan and what is most helpful for her, Jason and the kids. She has added a meal request and a snack list to this site. It is and will be a living document. Meanwhile, we can share updates to keep everyone informed. If you have a special memory or photo of Heather you would like to share, please do. We will do our best to update this site as we can. Again, the family is so thankful for the outpouring of love and support. Hugs, 🤍Heather's Care Circle🤍
