On July 23rd, 2021, Heather had an enlarged lymph node removed from her neck and after the biopsy was diagnosed with diffuse b-cell lymphoma. What we know is that it is the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and it is treatable with chemotherapy. Her team of doctors were aggressive with a plan put in place right away. This Caring Bridge is to connect her family, friends, colleagues to keep apprised of her journey and to support in the small and big ways during this challenging time. This Caring Bridge will be updated routinely to meet Heather and her family's needs. Grocery pick up, kid drop off, rides to appointments, gift cards for household items or school supplies, home cooked meals, chicken nuggets, pizza delivery or just a need for prayers.
Heather's outlook is positive, her words are most poignant and inspiring....
"There are things I know I’ll need and I’m sure many more will unfold along the way. My goal is to continue to work as much as possible because the reality is, bills don’t go away just because I’m sick. Maybe it will be possible. Maybe it won’t. This also may be challenging as a single mother, two hours away from family, but I believe I am exactly where I need to be. I believe stability for the boys will be paramount for their mental health. Things will align the way they are meant to. I believe this.
The most important lesson I learned in the past year was to ask for what I need and most importantly, be willing to RECEIVE in any and all forms. Because quite simply, it makes our messy and beautiful lives fuller and easier.
What I need now is positive, healing energy...an absolute abundance of it! What my children need is compassion, patience, and love. I will let you know when other needs arise. For now, the next best step is the imaging. After that, we’ll take the next best step. And then the next..."
