Fidel, or "Fido" to those close to him, is my first-born.
He is 28. He lives alone in Las Vegas in search for "his dreams".
But for now, he has to take care of a defining challenge.
To fight for his life.
I vividly remember the early morning of January 13 (2018) when he called.
He was sobbing. Hard.
He said that tests confirmed that the "lump" at side of his neck, was malignant.
And that a bigger lump was found at his inner chest wall.
That he has cancer. Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Suddenly, our world came crashing down.
Suddenly, our lives are changed.
Suddenly, images of the future flash.
Fast forward today.
He chose to undergo chemotherapy.
He is now on his fourth dose of a projected 8 dose cycle.
The family has alternated to be with him in this hour of need.
His brother has to postpone going to school just to be with him.
His mom who is in the Philippines came but had to return because
she cannot stay long.
I visit him every now and then.
I come from Stockton, CA. 10 hours by car,
4 hours over-all travel by plane
The side effects of chemo have impaired his ability to work.
He has not gone to work since February when chemo started.
So, the family has come together to come up and meet his medical,
and living expenses.
His "just-to-comply" medical insurance pays only a certain amount .
So we have to put up with the rest. Some very close friends have helped
without being asked. We are so thankful. (You know who you are.).
We are also thankful that Fido had the forsight to get the health insurance offerred
by the company he worked with.
Without this, life would have been be extremely hard.
At this time, funds are drying up.
Credit card debts are piling up.
Bills, expenses, rent, have to b paid.
We have come to peace with our Father God through His Son Jesus.
It's now all up to Him. We are doing our best.
It is now up to Him for the rest.
Yesterday, I made a "template" prayer.
I would distribute it to friends and family.
We need all the prayers that we can muster.
Please pray for the full and complete healing of my son, Fido,
from his Hodgkin's Lymphoma and the ill-effects of chemo.
(He fears that chemo will affect his ability to bear kids.)
Please also pray for us, his family.
As a family, when one suffers, everybody suffers.
When one is sick, all get sick emotionally.
For comfort, for peace, for wherewithals.
For energy, motivation, and purpose to work harder
and be empowered to do God's will for his Name and Glory.

Healing Prayer for Fido

Dear Father God thru your son Jesus, with the prayers of St. Padre Pio . . .
“Lord please grant that the miraculous blood of Jesus flow thru the body of Fido,
so that heals fully and completely from his Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
“(Note: use this as a “short” prayer. When in a hurry)
First, please take away his cancerous cells and replace them with healthy ones….
Please relieve him of the negative side effects of chemo.
…. Please make his body repair itself and so that it functions
the way You designed them to be.
Please guide and bless the doctors and medical people who treat him,
so that they can provide him with the best possible care.
Please also take special care of us, his family, and his brother Migo.
Migo chose to sacrifice his time and devote his energy, so that he
can take care of his “Kuya”, when his parents are not around.
(Fido chose to work in Las Vegas, away from his family, in pursuit of his dreams.
However, the bad side effects of chemo have impaired his work, and income.)
Please direct Fido’s thoughts, focus and actions, so that they result to
a strong mindset, a formidable immune system, and a purpose-driven
happy life in the midst of the challenges he faces.
Second, Dear Father, please fill us, Fido, his family, and those who love him deeply,
with your Holy Spirit, so we remain strong and resilient, hopeful and prayerful,
joyful and ever grateful … as we go through this difficult chapter in our lives.
We believe Lord that it is your plan for us, especially for Fido, to be well
in mind, body and spirit ... so that we are empowered to do Your Works,
spread your Love, and Grace, and bring Honor and Glory to Your Name.
Third, Dear Lord, we humbly ask, that you please bless us and Fido, with the financial,
emotional, and spiritual resources that we need, with the help of our family, friends,
and community … so that we are able to meet the living, travelling, medical,
and home care expenses in treating Fido of his deadly disease.
Fourth, Father, please grant us peace and comfort, and rest and sleep,
as You arm us with the knowledge that You Our Lord is in command,
and that by your loving grace … is healing Fido, right at this moment, as we speak..
Fifth, we thank you LORD for all the blessings that you are giving
to us despite our sins, weaknesses, and shortcomings.
We also thank you Lord for the “bad” things that happen to us, because we know
that “ the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father to the son he delights in.” (Prov 3:12)
Finally, Dear Lord our Father, we surrender to Thy Will.
Yet, we humbly ask for thy grace, love and mercy …
and heal Fido fully and completely from his cancer
and ill-effects of chemotherapy.
All these Lord, we ask in the name of your son Jesus ... AMEN. #
