Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Hazel Joyce Lee is our beautiful little girl (6 lbs. 6.7 oz.) born on 12/15 @ 1:05 p.m. She arrived via a planned C-section. Thanks to careful monitoring by doctors early on, we had a plan for her arrival.
Hazel was born with a diaphragmatic hernia. This is a defect or hole in the diaphragm that allows the abdominal contents to move into the chest cavity. For Hazel, her stomach and intestines moved into the chest, which caused her heart to push to the right, leaving little room for her lungs to develop fully.
She was put on a ventilator as soon as she was born and the doctors and nurses in the NICU are monitoring her.
