We are using this CaringBridge site to keep family and friends updated in one place, no donations are needed at this time, just keep on praying. 🧡💛

Hazel's CaringBridge story starts on August 26th when she was admitted to the 10th floor of St. Vincent hospital with blood abnormalities.

Hazel is an energetic, fun-loving girl who loves dance, jumping off furniture with her brother Noah and riding her bike to the park. Hazel has been looking forward to starting kindergarten this fall.  However, over the three weeks, changes in her high energy demeanor along with her parent's keen awareness were key to uncovering her medical issues early.

Hazel started sleeping through the night and stopped making nightly visits to crawl in bed with her parents. In most cases, this would be a great thing, but then she started falling asleep randomly throughout the day and didn't have the energy to play and run around like usual.  After a small fever, a quick doctor’s visit led to some important blood tests which uncovered concerning results. Hazel underwent a blood transfusion after being admitted to the hospital, while the doctors ran more tests relatively quickly to provide more definitive answers for Hazel.

Hazel was diagnosed with B-Progenitor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She started treatments on August 29, 2020, and will require ongoing treatments for the next 2.5 years.
