On Sunday, 8/28, Hazel fell in her home. Her son Dan found her and she was taken to the emergency room at Amery Hospital. On Tuesday, 8/30, she was being prepared for release when she suffered an ischemic stroke. The blood clot started in her heart and worked its way to the left side of her brain. She was flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where she was admitted to the Intensive Care unit. The blood clot cannot be removed from her brain. She is being sedated and is in stable condition. The hope is that she will be moved out of the ICU toward the end of the week and can begin rehabilitation.
