For those of you who do not know, here is Hayden’s story.

This pregnancy started out like any other and soon turned into a rollercoaster of emotions for our family. After having extra testing in St. Cloud at 19 weeks and weeks following I was referred to Abbott/Childrens Hospital. After lots of testing, meetings with specialist and genetic counseling we were able to find a diagnosis for our little guy. He has Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum  (ACC), which means his corpus callosum (nerves that allow the right and left hemisphere in the brain to communicate) is partially formed in his case. This means that we could be looking at the possibility of developmental delays and or learning disabilities. There is also a slight chance that it could end up being neither, but we have to watch as he grows in his first years of life to determine for sure. He also has ventriculomegaly, which means his 2 lateral ventricles in his brain are dilated to severe levels. Due to his levels of dilation I will more than likely be needing a C-section at 37 weeks. There is a great possibility that he will need a shunt placed in his brain to relieve the ventricles to their typical size and redirect the extra spinal fluid to be absorbed into his stomach. He will be going through lots of testing, surgery and recovery time in the NICU. Please keep us all in your thoughts as we take on this huge journey in the next few weeks. Thank you to everyone for all of the support and love pouring in, we appreciate it so much!
