Where do we start...For those of you that know our dad, know that he never sits still. Well, Sunday evening October 7th was no different. Hans was working on preparing their house up north in Michigan for the winter. To protect the house from any branches falling on it he climbed a very long ladder up to the branches to be trimmed. Well this time the branch got the upper hand. Our dad took a 15ft fall at approximately 6pm. Linda, his wife, our mom found him unconscious at about 7pm. He was taken to Gogebic hospital by ambulance. Upon arrrival he was immediately assessed and sent by plane (to windy for the medicvac to transport) to St Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. As of today he remains unconscious and on a ventilator. He has 6 broken ribs, broken sternum and some fractured neck vertebrae. Right now the biggest concern is the extreme trauma he has sustained to the head and brain. While his CT scans look good he isn’t responding as the neurologist hoped so later today they will preform an MRI to see if there is any damage to the spinal cord which can be attributing to the lack of responsiveness. We remain hopeful that this energetic, loving, and brilliant man will turn the corner to a full recovery. All your prayers and support is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
