Hannah is our beautiful, loveable 14 year old  daughter who loves being a big sister, playing video games, and drawing.  She was experiencing flu like symptoms and we took her to the doctor on April 26th.  They took a blood sample and everything came back fine.  The next day on April 27th Hannah continued to experience the same symptoms and complained of her stomach being bloated and being in pain.  At first we thought she had appendicitis.  We took her to the Hanover Hospital ER and they did a bunch of tests.  After many hours and many tests, the doctors gave us some devastating news.  They found 2 masses and needed to transport Hannah to Penn State Hershey Medical Center Children's Hospital.  Over the next few days Hannah was seen by numerous doctors and nurses who all have been phenomenal.  She had more tests done as well as a biopsy to help determine what the root cause of her illness.  This illness is causing her stomach to fill up with fluids.  They've drained the fluid several times with the first being 3 liters and the second being 1.5 liters.  On Sunday morning, May 2nd, Hannah's stomach measured 57cm and yesterday it was 54cm.  Given that, they installed a valve in her abdomen so they can drain the fluid as needed.  After the valve was installed, the doctor said they were able to drain another 2 liters.  Later that day we found out that Hannah has been diagnosed with Mature B-Cell Lymphoma.  Doctors said she will have to go through chemotherapy and be in the hospital approximately 5 months.  In the days since the diagnosis, they've completed a spinal tap, gathered bone marrow and installed a port for the chemo.  On May 4th, our beloved Hannah begins her chemotherapy treatment.  May the force be with her and keep her strong through this!

Hannah cannot accept flowers or food.  However, she can receive cards, balloons and bears.  Her address is:  Penn State Children's Hospital, Attn:  Hannah Reed - Room P3217, 500 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.
