Hank Chavis

This CaringBridge site is dedicated to share the story of Hank Chavis, a sweet little boy who was born with Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia, a severe heart defect which was identified at birth.  Shortly after birth, he was airlifted twice in order to get him to a facility with skilled physicians who could best manage his 1.5 month stay in neonatal intensive care unit as well as his future needs, including monitoring and ultimately a complex repair of his heart.  Hank receives the majority of his care from Levine's Children's Hospital which is located at CHS-Main in Charlotte, NC.  He has been a recipient of great medical care over the last 3.5 years of his life, and for this reason, we are compelled to give back to this children's hospital.  Upon coming home from the NICU, Hank received in-home nursing care through the Heartest Yard Program, an initiative which was initially founded by the Greg & Kara Olsen.  Greg is a well-know and successful member of the Carolina Panthers football team.  They, too, were parents of a son born with a severe congenital heart defect.  Their efforts through the Heartest Yard Program have supported so many patients and families who face congenital heart disease in our region.  The initiatives they choose to support through thsir foundation fill direct needs of parents who are in our shoes, raising a child with congenital heart disease.   We hope you will be able to join us on March 3, 2018 as we host two events, in support of the Heartest Yard Foundation.
