As many of you know, on September 22, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After an MRI and biopsy, the diagnosis was confirmed and determined to be stage 4. After hearing various treatment alternatives, I traveled to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore for an evaluation. I have been accepted into a Johns Hopkins clinical trial and hope to begin chemo this week. The treatment will be at Johns Hopkins so I will be spending a lot of time at Cathy's house in Mclean VA, just an hour from Baltimore. The first 14 days of treatment will be chemo pills each day along with IV chemo once each week for two weeks. The third week will be a rest and then the treatment will begin again. After 9 weeks, I will have scan to see how the treatment is working. Shirley and I hope to be able to travel back and forth between Vinton and McLean during this time.
Please keep me and our family in your prayers. Pray that I will be able to tolerate the chemo and that it will have the desired effect. I am in God's hands.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much
