On Monday, August 12th, 2019, Greta and her friends were hiking in Starved Rock State Park and had a beautiful day. As they were leaving, the car Greta and two of her friends were in was hit by a truck. She was air lifted to OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of IL in Peoria. Greta has broken bones, internal injuries and traumatic brain injury. Greta is being treated and monitored for these injuries in the pediatric acute care now. Her Doctors have told us she is stable and all bones expected to fully heal. We are working to get her transferred to Chicago this week, and will update the site when this happens.
During and after acute care Greta will be in rehabilitation. Though we'd love visitors, we are limiting that to close friends and family until Greta is fully awake and in a position to receive visitors. Her acute care may take a while, perhaps as long as 2 months, though we are hopeful it will be sooner. We have friends that will be monitoring this site as well, and coordinating some things on our behalf as we work our way into a schedule.
She was air lifted to Lurie's Children's Hospital in Chicago on Monday, August 19th.
Your love, support and encouragement are incredibly powerful and even though I will not be responding to comments because we are so focused on Greta, please know that our family will be reading each and every one of them. We know this will be a long recovery and greatly appreciate your prayers, love and support. Thank you!
