Greg Lewis

On behalf of the family of Greg Lewis, Scott and I are reaching out to family and friends of Greg in hopes of keeping everybody up to date with his status.  On Friday, May 10, 2019, Greg suffered a heart attack while at home.  Fortunately, a neighbor was present and 911 was called immediately.  He was transported to Suburban Hospital and remained conscious and aware of his surroundings while undergoing tests to determine the cause. After some testing and procedures at Suburban, it was determined he should be flown to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.  Because of the stormy weather, he was taken by ambulance and arrived safely Saturday evening.  Unfortunately, since his arrival at Suburban Friday, he suffered two additional cardiac events, fluid began to accumulate in his lungs, his kidneys began to show distress, and his body had evidence of sepsis.  As a result of all those factors, he was placed on life support at Johns Hopkins at approximately 4:30 am Monday, May 13, 2019.  He is on an incredible ECMO machine which is breathing for him, pumping his heart, and allowing his body to fully rest.  Because he is intubated, he is heavily sedated and no longer responsive.  We are hoping and praying this means he is receiving much needed rest and his body is beginning to heal.  Since being put on the machine, he has suffered no additional episodes, his fever has come down, and it appears his kidneys and lungs are showing improvement.  As we all know, Greg is not only tough, but stubborn - and he is surrounded by the best family and health care available.  Hannah, Gregory, Greg, Sr., Kay and Stacy all thank you for your love and support and apologize that they are unable to respond to each of you individually at this time.  Please feel free to reach out through this website - or contact either Scott or me directly, as we will continue to provide updates as they become available.  In the meantime, please keep Greg and his family in your thoughts and prayers and let us all believe we will be wishing Gregory Lawrence Lewis a Happy 5-0 in November!
