In May 2016, I received a diagnosis of a squamous cell carcinoma on my lower lip. By late summer, it became apparent that I would need surgery to remover the cancerous cells. That surgery took place in late August. Thanks to all who came out to the pre-surgery brunch. Your support continues to mean so much to me.
The surgery was successful, but cancer is still present at the cellular level and will require a recommended 7-week course of follow up radiation treatments. It was necessary that sufficient post surgical healing take place before radiation treatments could begin, but I have also just learned that my doctors require that I have considerable dental work completed before I can begin this next phase of treatment.
I appreciate all of the support I have received to date and have friends asking all the time how they can be of help during my ongoing recovery. Here are some ways to continue to help: 1) Friends have helped me establish this CaringBridge page and a meal support schedule via TakeThemA Meal.com. 2) There is also a GoFundMe link below for friends who might be able to assist with the extensive dental care that is required. I need $7, 000+ worth of work done. All contributions - at any level - are gratefully received, but I would like to offer a pendant to all donors of $50 or more.
