Graham Marscheider

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep our family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. 

After almost a year of finding out about Graham's condition, he is having heart surgery on July 12th to repair his tricuspid valve which is leaking and has been slowly worsening over time. As many of you know, this is a surgery to repair his heart and improve his health, both near and long term. Graham has been incredibly brave and understands the necessity of the surgery.  He is ready to get it behind him,  get back home to recover around friends and family, and focus on being a teenager, especially driving, surfing and working out with his friends.

We have done a lot of research and believe we have found the best surgeon and medical team in the country at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  His surgeon, Dr. Dearani, has performed tricuspid surgery over 2,000 times which gives us a lot of confidence and comfort. We met with him and his team in December of last year and were totally impressed with them and the Mayo facilities. We feel that Graham will be getting the best care available. 

We travel to Mayo on July 10th and will be there at least through July 20th. Graham will have a series of tests on July 11th that will occupy the entire day.  Through this site we will keep you updated on Graham's surgery on the 12th and his recovery which is expected to take 3-5 days in the hospital. Afterwards he will join us in the hotel and be seen and monitored by the surgeon and cardiologist prior to to our departure. 


Thanks so much to all of you for your continuous support, love, prayers and encouragement over the past year leading up to this.  We couldn't have done it without you!  We also would like to extend a special thanks to those of you who have offered to come be by our sides to support us during our time at Mayo. It means so much to us and we are so grateful for your offers.  Please know that Graham and we feel more comfortable if it is just the four of us as Team Marscheider.  Thanks also to Murphy's uncle Steve (Worrel) and aunt Tysha (Edwards) who will be making sure that the 5th member of Team Marscheider is taken care of while we are away and to Billy and Molly Almond who will be watching over our home and garden while we are away and ensuring that everything remains "green" upon our return. Thank you for visiting Graham's site and all your tremendous support.
