Gordon 'RED' Opstad

Recently Red has experienced a few episodes of double vision, numbness, dizziness, and lack of balance.  He was hospitalized twice in the past month and after some concerning test results he was referred to the Sanford Neurology Center in Fargo.  Yesterday we met with Dr. Drofa and Dr. Manchak and they gave us the following information and recommendations.

Currently, the vertebral artery is one of the main arteries that supply the brain with blood. Red's right vertebral artery looked pinched or narrow based on an X-ray done in Minot on 7/13/16. The skilled doctors here in Fargo specialize in brain science or neurology. They will take a 3D view or angiogram of the artery and determine possible stent placement to open up the artery. Red is going to have this angiogram conducted tomorrow at 5:45am at the hospital in Fargo, ND and will possibly be getting a stent at the same time. The vertebral artery is near the brain stem and a high risk procedure. We are staying positive and hoping for the best outcome. Thanks for your thoughtful good wishes toward Red's health.
