So Miss G had been having back pain since March, well before she pitched her softball team to winners of the championship. She had an x-ray and a sonogram and attempted physical therapy and finally had an MRI and another and another. At the beginning of July we were told she had a mass on her spinal cord and at the end of July the operation to remove the tumor progressed almost immediately into radiation therapy. We are in discussion with doctors about how to proceed. The steroids she's on have alleviated the back pain, but she has lost some mobility and feeling on the right side of her body.
Gretta has graciously informed me that she was kindda surprised the cancer skipped over me and she's taking it on so we can grow old together. ("You're welcome mom!") Her friends at Israel Congregation have provided her Yankee regalia as she feels she needs to "rub it in" whilst here in Boston. With Gretta's permission, her dad and brother have adopted a kitten (Hazel) to relieve some of their stress and FaceTime has kept the laughter going. The fact that she gets to listen to any music she wants when being zapped (Twenty One Pilots station it is!) certainly helps as does having medical professionals singing along! We will accept nothing but a cure!
We expect to be at The Boston House (229 Kent Street/Brookline MA 02446) for another 5 weeks. We are not in need of anything at the moment except good vibes, prayers and shouts of support!!
