A single event can change the course of your life and you may never see it coming. On May 18, 2022, our Mom suffered a stroke. By the end of that day, we discovered that she had experienced a single ischemic stroke with left-side paralysis. We believe it is considered a major stroke. She can talk, read and focus, but has difficulty swallowing non-blended food at this time. She has the use of her right arm and leg but has trouble sitting up without restraints or holding on with her right arm at this time. She is a warrior and with your help and support, she will push forward with hope for a full recovery.

Two Hospitals Later …

For this past month, Dad (Roy), Glyneths' sons, Miles and Austin  and their children and Roy's children and grandchildren, LIsa, Michele, Chad, Rene, and Alexia are taking turns being with her as she recovers and retrains her brain to bypass the damaged areas. She has also had a number of dear friends come to visit from Hemphill and Big Lake. She is currently at Encompass Health in Conroe, TX. Within the next two weeks, she will move to The Cove at Waterview in Granbury, TX as she is  able to perform basic tasks alone, but still needing some assistance. Dad will be going with her of course as he is by her side through this whole journey.

Her left side paralysis is her biggest obstacle. Today, she continues speech therapy to address her swallowing difficulty, has daily workouts to regain her strength and improve her heart condition, and will begin posting on CaringBridge when possible.

Hope to Keep Fighting

To this day, Glyneth has hope and is determined to establish a new normal that includes mobility and driving her new car. Your posts of encouragement and care will help carry her and Dad (Roy) through this journey. Of course, there are still hard days and difficulties she faces, but knowing there are people on “Team Glyneth” who care about her gives her the hope to keep fighting with a smile.
