As you know, my mother has been battling lymphoma along with several other conditions for many years. Treatments have compromised her immune system significantly. Despite her compromised immune system, she somehow managed to fight off serious infections until now. Last Sunday, she went to the ER to receive IV antibiotics to treat a nagging cough and low grade fevers. She underwent a bronchoscopy and subsequently experienced acute respiratory failure and was intubated. She has been on life support since that time. Her condition is extremely critical.
I wanted to provide a brief update. Her medical team is working around the clock to keep her stable. Tonight they introduced chest physio therapy to see if her lungs will more efficiently manage her oxygen level. She is working very hard. She is extremely sensitive to many and all adjustments, so her status changes almost every hour. At this time, we think it is best to hold off on visitors to allow time for the new treatment to take effect.
Thank you all for the kind emails and text messages, but mostly for keeping her in your thoughts. I ask that you please refrain from contacting the nurses station as they are not providing information regarding her status. I am sure you understand that she needs undivided attention at all times. As such, I will do my very best to update this page regarding her progress.
