Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  On Thursday November 8th, Glola planned to do a little shopping,  but when she arrived at Walmart she experienced some shortness of breath. She called Kendra to ask for a ride home, because she didn't think she should drive.  Kendra picked her up, but became concerned and instead took Glola to the ER.  After they hooked her up, they realized she was in danger and she was taken by ambulance to Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. She  suffered a major heart attack.  Unfortunately when Glola's heart stopped and she was de-fibrillated,  some of the clots broke apart and traveled to her brain causing a series of strokes.  Over the first ten days Glola has experienced many steps forward and we Praise God for every miracle He has been working in her.  She has been able to squeeze hands using her left hand,  move her legs and wiggle toes on both feet,  as well as nod or shake her head in response to yes and no questions.  Her heart seems to be beating strong and cardiologists are pleased with its progress.  On Wednesday doctors were able to remove her from the ventilator which was a HUGE blessing! The one set back Glola has faced is that she is now battling pneumonia.  Our current prayer request is that  the antibiotics will kick in and the pneumonia will clear up quickly.  She is also currently using a large BiPAP mask to support her breathing and our hope is that she could transition soon to a more comfortable, less invasive mask.  Thank you for your care and concern and especially for your prayers.
