Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on Glenn's journey.

As you know Glenn was diagnosed with bladder cancer in January this year after a tumor was found in his bladder.  The tumor was removed mid January.  Since the tumor had penetrated the muscle of the bladder it was recommended that he have his bladder removed (cystectomy) and replaced with a neobladder which is using part of the small intestine to form a new "bladder" - it is amazing what the medical profession can do!

Additionally it was recommended that he go through 8 chemo treatments during March, April and ending on May 12th.  This was more  preventive than to eradicate the cancer in his bladder.  The surgeon said that he didn't want to see Glenn back in a couple of years with a tumor somewhere else in his body - which we were in total agreement with.

After doing research, talking to medical professionals, others who have gone through their own cancer journeys and praying, we decided to go with their recommendation for treatment and chose a surgeon and oncologist  at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory.

Good news is that his chemo is done!  He made it through and is  still feeling the effects.

Surgery is scheduled for Thursday, June 8.  It will take about 7-8 hours and he will be in the hospital for 4 or 5 nights.  Scans and blood work will be done on Monday and Tuesday to be sure that he is ready for the surgery.  We will post again on Tuesday evening with an update.

We are humbled and so grateful for all of our family and friends who have reached out with cards, calls, emails, texts, food, encouraging words, advice and prayers.  It means more than we can express in words. It is amazing how encouraging and uplifting it is when others let you know they care and are there if you need anything.  And, we know that with God, our family and friends we are going to get through this.

With lots of love and heartfelt gratitude,
Terri and Glenn
