I will be doing updates on mom.  During a scan in August 2018, there was "something" noted.  A PET scan followed in Sept, and the chaos began for mom.  We did find out she did have the old area in the lung is active again.  She did also have 3 more lymph nodes next to the esophagus and a large area in her colon.  She did have a EGD and colonoscopy in Oct and did have a large 8 mm polyp removed and biopsy of areas by the nodes.  The results came back as being adenocarcinoma.  We have met with medical oncology and radiation therapy doctors.  Discussions of treatment and prognosis have been long and too much information.  She did also meet with Palliative care doctor.  Current prognosis is 6-10 months with treatment, but knowing mom she will survive as this is who she is and we all know where she gets that, right?  So at this time the current plan is to do radiation, Monday through Friday for 3 straight weeks.  They do have a trip out west gambling. She will have mapping for radiation done prior to the trip and will tentatively start treatment with radiation on the 3rd of Dec.  Her blood pressure has been really high and today when we left La Crosse they set up an EKG and appt with her MD in Sparta.  EKG was fine and she will be starting blood pressure medications.  She has taken all of this like a champ.  She is the strongest person I know.  I will try to keep updates coming as we progress with treatment and continue our journey.  Thanks to all for the support given to our family.
