I was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, non-small cell subtype adenocarcinoma after I had a small seizure on March 19th. A PET scan of my chest/abdomen showed a lesion approximately the size and density of my heart in the upper lobe of my right lung, and an MRI of my brain showed a total of three lesions, a fairly large one in my cerebellum near my brain stem and two much smaller ones which we were told were most likely what caused the seizure. A biopsy of the lesion in my lung was positive for lung cancer, and the brain lesions were assumed to be metastatic (not sure if the terminology is correct). Four SRS sessions to treat the brain lesions were completed on 4.17 and I started chemo on April 25 (Carbo taxol avastin), for a minimum of 4 treatments, preferably 6, as long as I can tolerate the side effects. If everything goes as planned, chemo will be complete by the first week in August and after a follow-up visit with my oncologist, we should be on our way to our new home in Mexico by the end of August!
