Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place, and to minimize phone calls as Gail is recovering.
Gail has developed Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy, thickening of the heart muscle, which makes the heart stiff and obstructs normal blood flow.  Over the past decade+, Gail has seen numerous specialists and has undergone various treatments, but the condition has progressed to the point that surgery is highly recommended. We are going to Cleveland Clinic because they have special expertise in the surgical correction of this condition.
Gail's surgery is scheduled for October 23rd (postponed from September, when Gail came down with a cold). Gail will be in hospital for 5-7 days and we will stay in a hotel on the medical center campus for another week, planning our return to Denver on November 3rd.
