Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer 10/18/21. She had been experiencing stomach pain and discomfort for about 6 weeks prior, but her doctors were convinced this was a reaction to an arthritis treatment, and that changing said treatment would clear up the reaction. When her discomfort became worse instead of better, her primary care doctor's office ordered imaging, and then still more imaging... which revealed the cancer, metastasized to a few different areas.

Mom, with the agreement of the doctors who've known her well for years and whom she and my dad have trusted, has chosen to forgo treatment and aim for quality of life and pain control via hospice care at home.

Hospice care has been established already, and we are so grateful for their attentive compassion. That said, she is still up and about (carefully) at times, and is sleeping fairly well most nights with pretty consistent pain control via oral meds.

Your messages mean so much to her -- which is to say: If you have a memory of her you'd like to share, or a sentence or two about what she's meant to you, feel free to leave it here or on Mom's Facebook wall and I will read them to her as she's able to listen.
