On Monday, 11/6/17, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer, which is completely curable. I felt a lump and reported it. I had my yearly mammogram on 10/6/17 and I advised them that I had felt a lump. The lump did NOT show on the mammogram. They performed an ultrasound which showed a 1.3 cm tumor. The tumor was biopsied last week and on Monday I got the call. I caught this tumor, not the mammogram. Please ladies, make sure to check for lumps, if you feel a lump make sure to have it checked.
On 11/28/17, I had surgery to remove the tumor. Surgery went well except for the nurses infiltrated my vein in the right arm, so it is bruised and in a lot of pain. I am currently waiting on the results of the biopsy.
These last two weeks have been such a whirlwind.
12/5/17 - Received the test results from the biopsy. They must go back in on Monday to remove a small piece of the tumor. It's also in my lymphoids. They tested 4 of them and it was in one of the 4. I have been upgraded to stage 2 Cancer and will be starting chemo, then radiation.
Dr. Baril ordered several tests. CT Scan, MUGA test and a bone scan. I had the CT scan on 12/6/17 and the MUGA scan on 12/8/17. I will be having the bone scan on Wednesday, 12/13/14. I will have a consultation with Oncology on Tuesday 12/12/17.
My second surgery is Monday morning, check in at 8:30 am. This surgery is supposed to be quick and I will be able to go home in a few hours.
