Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support,  words of encouragement and prayers. Thank you for visiting.

Gideon James Beran was born on Sunday, January 29th, and breathing difficulties led to his first helicopter ride from Cresco to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. It was there they found he was dealing with meconium aspiration syndrome. He responded to the medication and treatments. By Thursday, February 2nd, he was moved to Methodist Hospital where he spent a few nights with Mom and Dad.

On Saturday, February 4th, this changed and an echocardiogram revealed 5 congenital heart defects - a coarctation, a large VSD (hole between the bottom chambers), a couple of small ASDs (holes between the top chambers), a bicuspid valve instead of a tricuspid valve and a slightly deformed mitral valve.

Gideon, our "Mighty Warrior", faced his first surgery on Thursday, February 9th. Doctors worked to fix his coarctation - the narrowing of his aorta. His body is responding to the surgery. Doctors are monitoring and observing him and will soon make plans for what comes next. We invite you to stay tuned for updates and new prayer requests. Until then, we GREATLY appreciate your prayers for Gideon, our family and all his doctors and nurses. We serve a BIG God who is the GREAT physician with a GOOD plan!
