Get Well Gary
4/19/2017 Latest post:
Eleven years ago our dear husband and father Gary underwent surgery and radiation to remove a large tumor from deep inside his brain.....the recovery was very tough and took 3 months ...it was a great success and he has enjoyed most of the past 11 years symptom-free .
However Gary began to have negative symptoms recently with his balance and memory and while in the process of getting follow up appointments with his neurologist he experienced a serious medical even resulting in an ambulance ride to the ER Friday and subsequent diagnosis of the brain tumor having returned....bigger and a bit more complicated than last time.
The tumor is not only bigger but began to interfere with the flow of central nervous fluids and caused water pressure in the brain.
He underwent a 12 hour surgery today and did very well considering the inherent risks associated....He is still heavily sedated and on a breathing machine for tonight. He has a temporary shunt helping drain the built up fluid.
The plan is to wake him up slowly tomorrow.
He is not ready to have visitors...i will post when that changes.
We are being told he will be in ICU for at least 5 days...this procedure was more complicated and he will need longer time to recover overall.
As of now there is no noticeable brain injury from the surgery....we will know much more in each passing day amd tomorrow will be a big day getting him off the breathing machine and opening his lovely baby blues❤🙏
I will continue to post updates as they come.
Please keep him in your prayers.
We are feeling blessed already for the outpouring of support from our community....thank you everyone i can honestly tell you that God os providing everything we need everyday even before we ask as we take this journey one day at a time. ❤❤❤🙏💪 Grateful for you all, Garys wife, Jennifer Hoff
