Jerry was admitted to Sanford in Sioux Falls on January 30th, 2017 for shortness of breath, elevated temperature, and dehydration. After a couple of days of growing cultures and running tests, the doctors concluded that he has a specific type of pneumonia called pneumocystis that people who have compromised immune systems can contract. They have been treating him with antibiotics and steroids. Jerry has a path to recovery, but the doctors are concerned that his body does not have enough strength to take the path. Unfortunately, the doctors indicated that not many patients with interstitial pulmonary fibrosis who develop this form of pneumonia are able to recover. We are all hoping and praying for a miracle!
At this time, Jerry can have short visits. You will need to wear a mask and sanitize in and out.
