An Unexpected Journey
Aloha ,
Most of you may have heard through the coconut wireless that I have colon cancer. Yes, it was a shock for us, but Jeannie and I remain positive, hopeful, and steadfast in our faith in God.
I had a routine colonoscopy in 2014, which was normal, and was told to come back for the next one in 2019. I was already following their recommendations, and continued on a high fiber diet which many of you know was primarily plant-based. At the end of November I felt discomfort in my abdominal area and went to see the doctor since it persisted, periodically. I had a colonoscopy; they found a polyp that looked suspicious and took a biopsy. They determined it was cancerous. A subsequent CT scan was not definitive so I just completed an MRI. Based on what they know from the CT scan and blood tests, it appears the cancer is contained in the colon, but this is yet to be confirmed.
I am not sensitive in letting others know about my condition so feel free to pass the word along if it’s appropriate.
Although all of this is not good news, we take comfort in and are grateful for already seeing God’s presence in parting the proverbial “Red Sea” for us. It’s an amazing story which I’ll tell you later. We have been blessed by an outpouring of love, support, and encouragement from family and friends.
