Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  As many of you know, this journey started quickly and unexpectedly.  George went in for a long awaited heart procedure and, during some routine checks before the surgery, the doctor found a spot on a chest x-ray.  After a PET scan, it was discovered that he had cancer in his lung,  a few bones and lymph nodes.  Because it is in his bones and has spread so quickly (12 months), it is considered stage 4. George will begin chemotherapy on February 22 at Emory in Downtown Atlanta.  He will continue this treatment for several weeks before having another brain/PET scan to determine if this course is working to reduce or maintain the cancer cells.   We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
